Almost every guidebook
describes San Juan del Sur as a sleepy little fishing village.
While you can still see ox carts and horses parade through town, one
can hardly describe San Juan del Sur as sleepy - there's always a
party going on. The friendly people, incredible surf and
beautiful countryside have drawn in tourists from around the world.
You can see some photos of San Juan del Sur right
here.
The seemingly never-ending swells
provide much of the entertainment here. If you're not into
surfing, there are sailing, fishing, horseback riding, canopy tours,
and volcano hikes to keep you occupied. You can find links to
local businesses
here. Or you can do what we like to do best - sit in a
hammock with a great book.
Locals and tourists alike gather on the beaches to watch the sun
fall into the horizon each evening. San Juan sunsets are
legendary.

We fell in love with Nicaragua before
our plane even touched down back in August of 2003. You can
read about our experiences
here.
Although we didn't make it to San Juan del Sur on our first trip, we
became infatuated with the town via the internet. We knew we
wanted to live here before we stepped foot on the sandy beaches.
We were not disappointed when we arrived. We knew this where
where we were meant to be for the next few years. |
